Artist in residence
In the summer of 2015 I was ‘artist in residence’ at the NJO Muziekzomer, the yearly summer festival of the Dutch Youth Orchestra. I got a ‘carte blanche’ for the whole summer, which gave me the chance to let my imagination run freely and invite my musical friends to play with me. In five different programmes I tried to show as many different aspects of the trombone as possible, starting with original music from 16th and 17th century Venice (on period instruments)and finishing with the beautiful and challenging trombone concerto by Christopher Rouse, which we also took to Berlin for a performance at the Young Euro Classics in the Konzerthaus in Berlin. The amazing NJO Symphony Orchestra that performed the Rouse concerto with me was conducted by Anthony Hermus.
