Dutch Classical Talent

Dutch Classical Talent

Together with pianist Andrea Vasi, I reached the final round of the Dutch Classical Talent competition. Dutch Classical Talent (previously Vriendenkrans Concours/ Het Debuut) is a Tour and Award program for talented young classical musicians (singers and instrumentalists). Four laureates, selected by auditions, follow a coaching programme and give ten concerts in the most important Dutch concert halls. The laureates complete the programme with a final contest in the Royal Concertgebouw, where one of the laureates will be rewarded with the Dutch Classical Talent Award. The remarkable combination between trombone and piano presents wonderful opportunities which we love to explore. It’s a quest for each other, for similarities and difference and for suitable repertoire for our musical partnership – because that is rare. This is also exactly why we approached renowned composer Theo Verbey, not only to write a completely new piece for us, but also to arrange Ballades by Guillaume de Machaut. Also including gems by Frank Martin and Frédéric Chopin, Ballade is still a programme under Construction, but we are already looking forward very much to performing all over the country!
